In this ceramic industry, the challenge was to control the mass flow pumped from the mill with a bomba double pneumatic diaphragm. AODD pumps are capable of transferring large volumes of material, but are not accurate in the volume transferred. In this case, the non-uniform flow of mass supply was causing problems in the continuity of the operation.
The applied solution uses a flow controller panel. In the mass network we capture a flow and pressure signal with a flow meter and pressure transducer. The 4-20mA signal obtained by the sensor was transmitted to the proportional air flow regulator that adjusted the volume of compressed air in the pump supply.
This system was successful in controlling the mill's mass. Resulting in greater process efficiency.
