Chemical compatibility table with metals

Common metals and their resistance to corrosion to aggressive fluids such as acids, bases and more.

A major problem in the process industry is the corrosion of metal in pipes, valves and other parts of the buildings. Acceptable combinations of more or less aggressive fluids and commonly used materials are indicated below.

Observation! Remember that corrosion is a complicated issue, depending on the combinations of materials and fluids, fluid temperatures, surrounding environment and galvanic currents in buildings. The table below should be used carefully. Always check with the material producer.

CAREFUL: Variations in chemical behavior during handling due to factors such as temperature, pressure and concentrations can cause equipment failures, even if it has passed the initial test.

Remarks: Information in this table has been provided by respectable sources and should only be used as a guide in the selection of equipment for chemical compatibility. Always test your equipment under the specific conditions of your application before permanent installation.
Chemical behavior classifications listed in this table apply to an exposure period of 48 hours. We are not aware of the possible effects beyond this period. We do not guarantee (neither express nor implicit) that the information in this table is accurate or complete or that any material is suitable for any purpose.
