Pneumatic Cylinder Calculator

How does a calculator work?

Data entry

Air pressure: Enter the air pressure available in the system here. By default the value is 6 bar, but you can change this value. Remembering that 1Bar = 14.5 psi

Required force: enter the force value (in kg) that you need for your application

Safety factor: enter the value of the safety factor. If you do not want to add a safety factor, leave it at 1. But it is usually prudent to add at least a 1.5 safety factor.

Data output

Minimum diameter of the cylinder in extension: this is the minimum diameter to meet the need for force with the available pressure. Note that this is the diameter to exert the force requested on the EXTENSION of the cylinder. The retraction force of these cylinders is slightly lower, due to the reduction in useful area with the rod. The force in retraction is normally between 10 and 15% less than the force in extension.
Select cylinder in standard sizes
Pneumatic cylinder diameters are manufactured in standard sizes, select from one of the diameters below:

10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, 250 e 320mm
